Steam is on PC for many years now, & there is a case that this has helped save another PC from obsolescence. For all those computer owners who argue that setting up a PC for playing games is just too complicated. 1. Download Games Remotely

You can also create a backup copy about your games or transition games to a new PC; there is another way. Just copy the entire directory of your Steam. Unlike many applications, if you switch your folder between machines, Steam will not complain about missed registry settings–you can copy the Steam directory & release Steam.exe without updating Steam or redownloading your games.

3. Enable Steamguard for Security

SteamGuard already enabled by default, but testing and confirming that it is working is a good idea. SteamGuard will send you code until you log in to Steam from such a new computer. To sign in to Steam, you’ll need this key. That discourages people from hijacking your Steam profile if they do not have access to your email address as well.

Click the Steam menu to verify that it is enabled, select ‘Settings’, and search the ‘Account’ tab for the security status field.

4. Transfer Games Between Hard Drives

One of Steam’s most recent benefits is the incentive to move games among hard drives (which somewhat negates a piece I posted about how to run games through drive just before that).

First, for your Steam games, you will have to create a secondary configure folder. To do this, go to ‘Settings>Downloads>Steam Folders Library’ in Steam, & go to ‘Add Library Folder’ in the new window. Go to the library once you have done so, right-click on the game you would like to move & go to ‘Properties>Local Files>Transfer Install Folder’.

5. Get a Refund

Refunds & digital downloads were never the best of friends. However, times are changing little-thankfully. Steam’s refund policy still is a bit hazy, but broadly speaking, you may claim reimbursement within fourteen days of buying the game & if you’ve been playing it for even less than two hours.

To demand a refund, go into the Steam Support page, tap a Purchase, follow the link to the game, then you would like to refund, press it, then select I’d like a refund. Unless you meet the above circumstances, this shouldn’t be an issue to get a refund; however, even if you’re out of it (technical questions, etc.), then Steam would still review your case.

6. Steam Family Sharing

Probably Steam’s best single feature, Family Sharing, allows you to share your entire games library of fellow players of Steam. The catch is that when you are playing your games. You can’t even play games in another individual’s library, but even then, it’s pretty unrestricted.

To do this, you will have to log in to Steam at the other user’s computer (or offer your password to another person, which not recommended unless this is anyone you trust with your Steam account/life). Once they have done this, they must go to ‘Settings> Friends’ and then tick the box ‘Authorize Library Sharing on this Device.’ Tick the checkbox beside the account identity of the person you would like to share with for the box below and then press ‘Ok’.
