Tariq Farid at age 17 purchased a flower shop in Connecticut’s East Haven by borrowing $5,000 from parents. In two years, he was able to run four stores. Later, he started a new concept after seven years – you can eat bouquets. In 1999, he opened a store of Edible Arrangements, delivering bouquets of sculpted fresh fruit which look like flowers by creating and selling them. In 2001, he then began franchising.
He also expanded his products by including fresh fruit by dipping in chocolate, fruit salads, beverages, fruit sundaes and other products of “grab and go”. Tariq Farid is the CEO of Edible Arrangements.
